Some of you will recall that back in 2020 we held our inaugural film festival. The event was a spectacular success and we had hoped to make it a regular occurrence. Sadly, the pandemic put a stop to that, but now we are back and we hope to have a wonderful evening in the Spring.
The 2020 Festival showcased many, many films. The overall winner on the night, the film ‘Dolly’ by Jessica Newton, from Year 13 was a masterful, rich piece that wowed the judges and audience respectively. However, we were so pleased with the quality of entries from all students, both primary and secondary. It really was a great night!
Our talented students are already talking about their film ideas for this festival and being able to showcase their creative energies. This event will be an opportunity to be able to do just that and we welcome entries into the festival from Year 3 to Year 13.
This year we have decided to split the festival into two events;
-
The Swans Primary Festival for Years 3 to 5.
-
The Swans Secondary Festival for Years 6 to 13.
A number of categories will feature as part of the festival. These will include ‘Best Film - Primary/Secondary’, ‘Best Animation’, ‘Best Music Video’ and also ‘Best Film in Spanish’. Other categories will be announced nearer the time.
Details about how to get tickets to the festival and further information will be announced very soon, but in the meantime, please do encourage your children to take part in this wonderful experience. Please also look at the enclosed flyer with further details about the event.
Yours sincerely
Lindsay Whittaker and Robert King
