Dear Parents,

Welcome back to our summer term. I hope you have all had a wonderful break. 

Our Spring term ended with a celebratory end of term assembly and our traditional memorised poems and Easter Bonnet Parade. 

Our assembly celebrated this term’s house winners (the Hawks), children who had achieved the most housepoints, Ella Rose who won the poetry competition in the SUR as well as our well deserving headteacher award winners; Carlota from EYT,  Jiaying from Y2K and Sienna from Y5J. 

We also awarded certificates, medals and trophies to celebrate our success in the TT Rock Stars Worldwide Competition. Children from Years 3 to 6 took on the challenge to answer as many times table questions as possible in an hour over 3 days. In comparison to their scores from other years, which have been around 2,500, they scored 4,255 points, answering 821,399 times table questions correctly! 

For average scores, Swans International Primary School finished 6th in the world, out of 338 primary and secondary schools. Out of 180 Primary schools, we finished 4th. When counting the total number of questions answered correctly, we finished 2nd! In all 3 categories, Swans International Primary School was 1st in Spain and all our classes finished in the top 15, with 9 making up the top 10. 

Furthermore, out of 3,800 classes across the world, all our classes finished in the top 100 and even the top 50 when counting only primary schools! 

A special mention goes to Roman and Oliver, who finished 18th and 46th respectively out of 20,000 primary school students across the world. Roman also came first in Spain out of 3,286 and Oliver came 3rd. Incredibly, 22 Swans students made it into the top 50 in Spain!

The memorised poems were outstanding as always. The children never cease to amaze me with their confidence, clarity and expressiveness. It is wonderful to see them develop such a variety of skills through this event which stand them in good stead today and for their future. I am sure we will  see many of our primary children on the secondary stage and in our secondary debating teams.

We also had lots to celebrate from the U11 Med Cup trip to Verona. A team of Y5 and Y6 children attended with both primary and secondary teachers. This was the first time we entered an U11 team and we had great results. Team A managed the win in the Europa League after a thrilling match against TBS Warsaw. Team B had an excellent last match winning 3-1, earning 5th position in the Premier League. But the best trophy of all was when we were awarded the Fair Play trophy of the tournament. We are incredibly proud of all of our students who took part and represented themselves and the school so well.

As we focus our attention to the term ahead, we have lots to look forward to. We kick off all the events with Book Week from April 8th, as has been outlined in Miss Carole’s letter. Following this, we have Sports Day, a special science focus and school trips to look forward to. Assessment week will take place from May 20th for two weeks and we respectfully request that families make every effort to have their children present each day to complete the assessments. More details will be given nearer the time. 

In additional to this, there will be our usual end of term celebrations.

School council have lots of ideas for summer term with a focus on the environment including a beach clean, recycling and reusing initiatives and we would like to ask parents to be mindful when parked outside school and consider the impact of leaving  their engines running.

Estimados padres:

Bienvenidos de nuevo al tercer trimestre de este año académico. Espero que todos hayan tenido unas maravillosas vacaciones.

Nuestro período de primavera terminó con una asamblea para celebrar el fin del trimestre, nuestros tradicionales poemas memorizados y el Desfile del Gorro de Pascua.

Nuestra asamblea celebró a los ganadores de las casas de este trimestre: Hawks, los niños que habían logrado la mayor cantidad de puntos en las casas, Ella Rose, que ganó el concurso de poesía en el SUR, y nuestros merecidos ganadores del premio de la Directora Carlota de EYT, Jiaying de Y2K y Sienna de Y5J.

También entregamos certificados, medallas y trofeos para celebrar nuestro éxito en la Competición Mundial de TT Rock Stars. Los niños desde Year 3 hasta Year 6 asumieron el desafío de responder tantas preguntas de la tabla de multiplicar como fuera posible en una hora durante 3 días. En comparación con sus puntuaciones de otros años, que han rondado los 2.500, obtuvieron 4.255 puntos, respondiendo correctamente 821.399 preguntas sobre las tablas de multiplicar.

En cuanto a las puntuaciones medias, Swans International Primary School terminó en sexto lugar en el mundo, entre 338 colegios de primaria y secundaria. De 180 colegios de primaria, terminamos en cuarto lugar. Al contar el número total de preguntas respondidas correctamente, ¡terminamos 2º! En las 3 categorías, Swans International Primary School quedó 1º en España y todas nuestras clases terminaron entre los 15 primeros, con 9 alumnos entre los 10 primeros.
Además, de 3.800 clases en todo el mundo, todas nuestras clases terminaron entre las 100 mejores e incluso entre las 50 mejores si contamos solo los colegios de primaria.
Una mención especial para Roman y Oliver, quienes terminaron en el puesto 18 y 46 respectivamente entre 20.000 estudiantes de primaria en todo el mundo. Román también quedó primero en España entre 3.286, y Oliver quedó tercero. ¡Increíblemente, 22 alumnos de Swans llegaron al top 50 de España!

También tuvimos mucho que celebrar con el viaje de la Med Cup U11 a Verona. Asistió un equipo de estudiantes de Y5 y Y6 con profesores de Primaria y Secundaria. Esta fue la primera vez que hemos apuntado a un equipo U11 y obtuvimos grandes resultados. El equipo A logró la victoria en la Europa League después de un emocionante partido contra el TBS Varsovia. El equipo B tuvo un excelente último partido ganando 3-1 y obteniendo la quinta posición en la Premier League. Pero el mejor logro de todos fue cuando nos entregaron el trofeo al Fair Play del torneo. Estamos increíblemente orgullosos de todos los estudiantes que participaron y se representaron tan bien a sí mismos y al colegio.

Centrando nuestra atención en el próximo trimestre, tenemos mucho que esperar. Comenzamos todos los eventos con la Semana del Libro a partir del 8 de abril, como se describe en la carta de Miss Carole. Después de esto tenemos el Día del Deporte, un enfoque especial en Ciencias y viajes escolares que esperamos con muchas ganas. La semana de evaluaciones se llevará a cabo en mayo... y solicitamos respetuosamente que las familias hagan todo lo posible para que sus hijos asistan todos los días para completar las evaluaciones. Se darán más detalles cuando se acerque el momento.
Además de esto, tendremos nuestras habituales celebraciones de fin de trimestre.

El Consejo Escolar tiene muchas ideas para el trimestre de verano con un enfoque en el medio ambiente, incluida la limpieza de la playa, iniciativas de reciclaje y reutilización. Además, nos gustaría pedir a los padres que tengan cuidado cuando estacionen fuera del colegio y consideren el impacto de dejar los motores en marcha.
