One of the many advantages of studying at Swans International School is the possibility of completing the Spanish curriculum alongside the English one. This grants our pupils the chance to choose between doing their university studies in Spain or abroad. Swans School offers Educación Primaria (EP) and Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO), completely approved by the local education authority, Consejería de Educación de la Junta de Andalucía. Every single student at Swans studies Spanish. Spanish pupils and those from other nationalities who are fluent in Spanish do Lengua y Literatura castellana and Geografía e Historia. The rest of students do Spanish as a foreign language (SFL).
ESO students also do the IGCSE exams in First Language Spanish and Spanish Literature. SFL students sit the IGCSE in Second Language Spanish. We also prepare some of our more advanced SFL students for the DELE (Diploma de español lengua extranjera), which is a certificate issued by the Instituto Cervantes and it is recognized worldwide. Once they complete their secondary education, students continue with the International Baccalaureate Diploma. During this two year program, students receive further education that allows them to attend universities all over the world.
Right now, there are nine teachers in the Spanish Department, all of them well qualified and with lots of experience in their field.
