Key Stage 4 – GCSE
In Years 10 and 11, students at Swans undertake GCSE or IGCSE courses, in a variety of subjects.
These courses and exams are based on the UK education system and are organized by exam boards, external companies that write the course and assess the course. Each student will be examined in ten subjects or more by the end of Year 11. Some of the courses also contain a coursework element to them. The three examination boards used at Swans are Cambridge (CIE), AQA and Edexcel.
All teachers at Swans are very experienced in the delivery of these courses, and 100% of our students gained the required 5 A*-C grades for the academic year 2013-14. Please see a summary of our past results, below.
Compulsory subjects that all students complete are – English (language and literature for first language English students) Spanish (literatura y lengua for first language Spanish students) Maths and Science. ICT is also compulsory.
